Condition monitoring – preventative maintenance for more reliable operations
One of XERVON Instandhaltung’s specialty areas is condition monitoring. Using this proactive form of maintenance, we constantly record technical information about a machine and monitor its condition via, for example, vibration analyses, thermal imaging and remote system diagnostics. The data – obtained both online and offline – is analysed and compared to predefined parameters. This enables a specific assessment to be made about the condition of the machinery and, if required, allows measures to be taken before a potential failure occurs.
Besides being used for preventative maintenance, condition monitoring also helps determine the best possible maintenance schedule and enables the source of an error to be precisely located. The result: minimised downtime and even greater plant availability.
A practical example: smart glasses
Most maintenance projects are time-critical and many tasks can be performed more quickly if state-of-the-art technologies are used. XERVON Instandhaltung deploys smart glasses that transmit information via audio and video stream. Thanks to these glasses, conference calls can be set up between the operatives working in the field and their colleagues located elsewhere. They can exchange audio and video information and work together to come up with a rapid solution. Meetings no longer need to be arranged – a particularly useful benefit.
